These are my grandma's orange rolls....so good!
Ingredients
Orange Glaze:
1 1/2 Tbs cornstarch
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cold water
1/4 cup orange juice
1 Tbs lemon juice
1 Tbs grated orange rind
1 tsp grated lemon rind
Dough: (can use any dough recipe)
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
4-4 1/2 cups flour
1 pkg yeast
1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbs butter
Directions
Directions for Glaze:
mix cornstarch and sugar together add water to make a smooth paste. Add fruit juice and rinds. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Cook until thick, then let cool.
Directions for Rolls:
Warm milk...add sugar, butter, and salt. Combine 2 cups flour and yeast together in a separate bowl. Add milk mixture and eggs to flour. Beat well...then stir in enough of remaining flour to make soft dough. Knead 3-5 min. Cover and let rise until double, punch down, divide in half and let rise 10 min. Roll each half to 12"x8" then brush with orange glaze roll and slice into place in greased pan. Brush tops with glaze. Let rise the bake at 375 15-20 min. Remove from pan immediately to cool.
Quick Rolls Version:
2 cans biscuit
1 cube melted butter
1/2 sugar
grated orange rind
melt butter add orange rind and sugar. Dip biscuit in glaze. put in greased pan, bake at 375 until browned.
